ABOUT US
Hi I’m LaKisha Patterson. I have been an out and outspoken lesbian since I was 19 years old, after I escaped from an abusive relationship at 19, I decided to live my best life, and be my loudest, gayest self possible. I have a creative and adventurous spirit, but my urge to create often took a backseat to taking care of my daughter. I have done every kind of job, from non profits to bartending to welding, now I am ready to nurture my creative spirit and to be my own boss.
I love how Queer people have come into the mainstream, but rainbow capitalism doesn’t celebrate us all equally, and doesn’t treat every voice with the same love. In short; they can’t handle voices like mine: Unapologetic. Black. Lesbian. That’s why I started TRIB TALK. It’s an abbreviation of the word “tribadism,” which means… well, if you know you know. But don’t google it at work. I want to have a clothing line that caters specifically to the lesbian community, both masculine and feminine presenting, while also including those that support us, Wholeheartedly. This is my lifestyle. I want this line to reflect that.
And I know now is my time, but I also know I need help; you can’t walk into a bank looking like me and talking about lesbian tee-shirts and expect to get a business loan. But I know that there are a lot of people who feel the way I do, and who will respond to my message, a message that holds up the experience of Lesbians, Trans men who love women, everybody who loves to trib, and anybody who wants to support them.
